So a few weeks ago at the meet the teacher night there was an information table about Boy Scouts. This was not on my radar at all, as I looked at a full upcoming schedule with 3 kids in soccer and another doing drama and community theater. Much to my surprise my oldest son, who could join as a Tiger Cub this year expressed a great deal of interest.
Last week was the first meeting of the new Scout year. As we are getting out of the car my son, full of excitement tells me that he's very excited. He had a dream the night before that he was a scout and that he got to hold a snake.
We went through the information packet, got all the sign up forms, talked popcorn sales and they mentioned that the first event would be the following week when Cool Critters Outreach would come with some very cool critters. Seems my son's dream was going to come true very soon.
I was very impressed with the program that Cool Critters put on. They were very good at going with the flow, and kept the boys engaged. They let the kids hold, touch, and in some cases wear the animals (causing some major smiles!). They also did a great job of giving the boys some really good information about the animals they saw in a fun and interesting way.
My son is a Wild Kratt fanatic, and tonight, he definitely got to experience a 'creature adventure'. If you have an event with kids, you might want to give Cool Creatures Outreach a thought for the event. I would guess they would be a huge crowd pleaser!
