Girl Scouts are known for their cookies! Every winter people anxiously await a chance to buy their Thin Mints and Do Si Dos. The cookies are good, and the cost is just reasonable enough that even those that are just in it for the snack can justify their once a year indulgence. The Boy Scouts have their own product for fund raising. POPCORN.
When you see those sharply dressed scouts at grocery store exits, they will greet you with an offer to buy up some of their popcorn. When you get to the price, I admit, there is a bit of sticker shock that will take place. At that point I urge you to look at the upper right corner of the box. You're really making a donation to scouting, and get the popcorn is thrown in as a free gift.
That popcorn helps scouts do all the cool things they get to do. My son's very first week of scouts they brought in (my prior blog post) an animal rescue agency, with some pretty cool critters that the scouts got to handle, and see up close. They get a chance to camp, go on field trips...and it's all is primarily funded by popcorn sales. As I mentioned, the price tag for the actual popcorn is on the high side, but when you encounter these popcorn warriors, know that donations are also excepted. If the popcorn price is more than you want to deal with, donations are gladly accepted, and go directly to the scouts to help fun all those cool activities. My son, and all his fellow scouts thank you and appreciate your generosity!
